By the end of 2025, roughly 341,000 channel partners will offer managed services. That stat comes from Channel Futures' friends at Canalys, part of Omdia, our sister research and analyst firm, which participated in the 2025 Channel Partners MSP 501 process.
Also per Canalys, global managed services revenue will approach $595 billion (USD) in 2025, which would mark a 13% increase year over year. Growth by region is also consistent, with Asia Pacific at 15%, EMEA at 12% and North America at 10%, the firm projects.
Cybersecurity is one of the largest growth areas, with managed security services expected to jump by 15% globally. Most important, Canalys says 95% of cybersecurity products and services will flow through partners.
Artificial intelligence is also top of mind for MSPs. While Canalys says 61% of MSPs have struggled to get past the proof-of-concept stage, they are adopting AI agents that are automating their operations and providing them with advanced analytics.
Many managed service providers are also joining forces, merging to provide services in different regions and benefit collectively from shared resources. In fact, after a bit of a slowdown in 2024, Canalys, in its first-of-the-year forecast, expected M&A to jump by 45% in 2025, close to the level we saw before the COVID-19 pandemic.
A lot of M&A activity is represented in this year's MSP 501. Nearly two-dozen New Charter Technologies companies made the list of the world's best IT service providers, as did a handful who are part of Blue Alliance.
